Ondřej Havránek

Ondřej Havránek is the head of Laboratory of Lymphoma Tumor Biology at the BIOCEV Institute of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. He obtained his MD and PhD degrees at the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and in 2018 completed his six-year postdoctoral research training at the Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, USA. His research interests include tumor genetics and aberrant signaling pathways.

Karel Holada

Karel Holada

Karel Holada serves as associate professor of medical microbiology and head of Prion laboratory at the Institute of Immunology and Microbiology of 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. He obtained his Ph.D. in biochemistry for studies of blood platelet receptors and has spent more than 5 years of his postdoctoral stay at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, FDA in Bethesda studying blood related aspects of prion diseases. His research interest involves prions and prion-like proteins, cellular and animal models of proteinopathies, pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and detection and inactivation of infectious agents.

Zdeněk Kleibl

Zdeněk Kleibl

Zdeněk Kleibl received his M.D. degree from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in 1994 and his PhD degree in biochemistry at the Department of Biochemistry and Experimental Oncology in 2002. He is a co-founder and current head of the Laboratory of Oncogenetics, a diagnostic and research facility at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague. He is a member of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), international consortia Evidence-based Network for the Interpretation of Germline Mutant Alleles (ENIGMA), Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of BRCA1/2 (CIMBA), he leads the national consortium CZECANCA (Czech Cancer Panel for Clinical Application).

Zdeněk Kostrouch

Zdeněk Kostrouch is a Senior Scientist at Biocev, The First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. He specialized in pathology and molecular biology and has experience with the regulation of gene expression in model invertebrate organisms, the evolution of gene expression regulation, and bioinformatics.

Emanuel Nečas

Emanuel Nečas

Professor Emanuel Nečas studied the pathophysiology of hypoxic states and the regulation of the erythropoietin gene by oxygen. He established a connection between erythropoiesis and the regulation of the hepcidin gene. Currently, he is researching the role and function of stem cells in the reconstitution of damaged hematopoiesis.

Jiří Petrák

Jiří Petrák

Jiří Petrák is the head of Laboratory of Clinical Proteomics at the BIOCEV Institute of 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. He is a molecular and cell biologist, and his research activities are focused on the application of proteomic methods as a major tool for elucidation of molecular mechanisms of human diseases and identification of new druggable targets and disease markers.

Professor Ondřej Šeda, M.D., Ph.D., Head of the Institute of Biology and Medical Genetics at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, and General University Hospital in Prague, specializes in the genetics and genomics of complex traits in both human subjects and experimental disease models, pharmacogenetics and nutrigenetics.

He is a clinical oncologist, and his research activities are focused on prognostic and predictive biomarkers, hereditary cancer syndromes, targeted therapy and immuno-oncology.

Tomáš Zima

Tomáš Zima

Prof. Tomáš Zima, MD, DSc., Dr.h.c. professor of medical chemistry and biochemistry, the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University of Prague, Head of Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (from 1999), the Rector of Charles University Prague (2014-2022), specialist in clinical chemistry and European Specialist in Laboratory Medicine and also in internal medicine and nephrology. Prof. Zima is a member in many learned and scientific societies (Academia Europea, Czech Medical Academy, Czech Learned Society) and their Boards (e.g. president elect EFLM 2024-2025). He was member of the European Commission's Scientific Panel for Health (SPH) 2014-2020.
